Rules and Regulations
Please read the following carefully prior to the submission of your entry.

Conditions: The competition is open to amateurs only.

Proof of Age: Age to be established as at the first day of the Eisteddfod.

Repertoire:

All music selected for AMEB Grade sections (except Novice) must be chosen from the current AMEB (including For Leisure) syllabus.

One piece only to be played, apart from Recital and Ensembles sections.

No repeats are to be played.
-
Only one grade section per instrument may be entered.

Repertoire played or used in any section cannot be repeated in another section.

Competitors must ensure that their choice of repertoire meets the criteria specified for their section. Failure to comply will result in ineligibility for any prizes. This responsibility rests solely with the competitor and their teacher. The adjudicator’s report will still be provided to the competitor, regardless of prize eligibility. The committee will not be held responsible or liable for any incorrect repertoire choices that do not meet the stated criteria.

Accompanists: Competitors must provide their own accompanist. Accompanist entry fee is included in enrolment fee.

Automated accompanists e.g CDs, tapes, electronic instruments are not permitted. Microphones are not permitted.

Time: Time limits must be strictly adhered to. The times stated are the maximum times allowed for each item and include the breaks between pieces. Performers exceeding the time limit will still receive an adjudication report, but will not be eligible to receive a prize.

Photocopies:

All competitors must upload a copy of their performance music for Adjudicator’s use (permitted by APRA AMCOS) at the time of enrolment. Failure to observe this rule may result in disqualification.

Competitors (and accompanists) may perform from photocopies of music ONLY if it is not bound by copyright. Music which is still in copyright must be performed from original scores. However, competitors are encouraged to perform from memory.

The Eisteddfod will not be liable for any copyright infringement relating to the use of photocopies.

Trophies:

A trophy will be awarded to the winner in each section, except when there are less than three competitors. In such cases the adjudicator is authorised to use their discretion.

The adjudicator has the right to withhold an award in any section where sufficient merit has not been displayed and the performance is not of the required standard.

Cancellations: If there are insufficient entries in any section, the section may be cancelled and money refunded, or two or more categories combined. No other refunds will be made.

Protests: Any protests must be made in writing within one hour of the completion of the section along with $50, which will be forfeited if the protest is deemed invalid. The decision of the adjudicator and committee in all questions and disputes is final.

Entry/Exit: No entry to, or exit from the hall will be permitted during a performance.

Although every care will be taken, the committee will not accept responsibility for accidents or for belongings left at the Eisteddfod venue.

Imaging: Photography and videography is permitted for your own performance only.

Promotion: By enrolling in the Eisteddfod students and their guardians consent to the use of any photographs or video footage taken during the event for promotional purposes. This may include publication on school websites, social media platforms, newsletters, and other related media. If you do not wish for your child to be included in any such media, please let us know.

All mobile phones must be switched off or set to silent.

Closing Date

Entries must be received by the date stated on the most recent schedule.

All late entries may be charged a fee of $10 and accepted only at committee discretion.

Winners' Concert
-
Selected winners will be invited to perform at the Winners’ Concert.

All first and second prize winners will be invited to the Winners’ Concert to receive their award.
